I’m Tanya!

A multidisciplinary artist, art director, and professional photographer based in Queens, New York. My journey with art has been lifelong, but in 2024, I opened the doors to my photography and media studio, offering creative services to the public. While the studio is new, I’ve been a professional photographer since 2020 and an artist for as long as I can remember.

I started taking my art seriously in high school, attending the High School of Art and Design in Midtown Manhattan, where I majored in fashion design and garment construction. Though I was accepted to FIT, life took an unexpected turn and led me to the Chelsea Arts District, where I began seeing my future more in the world of fine arts. That shift brought me to LaGuardia College, where I majored in Fine Arts and discovered my absolute love for photography during a Photography 101 class. There, in the darkroom, I felt something click. It was magic. I knew I had found a lifelong passion.

Even with that clarity, life had other plans. I entered the nonprofit education world, teaching media arts to young people and mentoring budding creatives. My interest in technology and love for storytelling through visuals naturally pulled me toward graphic design. That led me to the School of Visual Arts (SVA), where I earned my BFA in Design with a specialization in brand identity. All while working full-time as a department director, I continued to carve out time for my creative work, refusing to let go of my dream. After nearly ten years in the nonprofit sector and four years in leadership, I made a bold and terrifying leap into the freelance world. I bet on myself and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Since then, I’ve had the honor of working with a wide range of clients, capturing portraits, headshots, campaigns, and moments that matter. My work has been featured in Variety and The Fader, and I’ve collaborated with brands like Sunday II Sunday. I’ve photographed movie premieres like The Blackening at the Apollo Theater and covered the Millennium Tour headlined by RSVP, Trey Songz, Omarion, and Bow Wow. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing talents such as Jermaine Fowler, Snoh Aalegra, Lady London, Fabolous, Shoniqua Shandai, Amirah Vann, and Jerrie Johnson. In 2023, I was also a finalist in the PhotoVogue x Levi’s Global Competition.

Most recently, I work as an Art Director overseeing creative teams and building programs from the ground up but my entrepreneurial spirit has always pushed me toward something of my own. Now, through my studio, I offer photography services for fashion, entertainment, and executive-level clients, specializing in portraiture, lifestyle, and branding. In the Summer of 2025, I’ll begin offering wedding and elopement photography for couples who want editorial-style coverage with an intimate, personalized touch.

At the heart of everything I do is storytelling. I’m dedicated to creating an experience that feels elevated, collaborative, and true to you. My clients know me for my attention to detail, my creative direction, and my ability to bring visions to life in ways that feel effortless yet unforgettable.

The future of my studio is rooted in community and growth. I’m building a space that will not only serve clients but also mentor and train the next generation of artists, photographers, and designers. It’s bigger than just photos; it’s about legacy, impact, and love for the craft.
